Ken Franklin joins Cahill ∙ Davis & O’Neall with more than 20 years’ experience as a trial attorney specializing in real estate and tax matters. Focusing on state and local taxation, with an emphasis on ad valorem property tax, Ken is a seasoned litigator who has appeared before the Superior Court, the U.S. District Court, and the California Court of Appeal.
Ken has successfully represented clients in numerous trials and administrative proceedings. Ken, for example, prevailed at trial against the County of San Diego and real estate speculators to recover the site of an outdoor advertising sign lost by a major multi-media company through an illegal tax sale. Representing an independent power producer through administrative and court proceedings (including the Court of Appeal), Ken was instrumental in preventing the imposition of a multi-million dollar utility user’s tax. Ken also recovered a substantial interest payment for a major oil company by proving that the county’s interest calculation failed to comply with the applicable statute.
Ken received his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School after graduating from University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science. |
